Tip: Understanding the difference between “much” and “many” is essential when talking about quantities.

  • Use “much” with uncountable nouns (things that cannot be counted individually, like water, time, or money).

Example: I don’t have much time to study today.

Important! You cannot use much in affirmative sentences. In that case, use “a lot of”.

Example: We have a lot of money.

  • Use “many” with countable nouns (things that can be counted individually, like books, apples, or people).

Example: There are many students in the class.
